Antique Poodle Stuffed Animal Toy Dog

Measurements: 10.0" x 11.0" x 7.0" (25.5cm x 27.5cm x 17.5cm)

The dog's coat is made of sheep skin/fur which has been possibly dyed to give it the lovely beige colour with brown/orange tinge in places. The original colour might have been a bit lighter but has possibly become darker and dusty over the years. The cloth cover underneath the fur has browned and has some water and rust marks on it which in my opinion only adds to the character as it shows age. There are also marks noted on the head, next to the left eye and
on the snout. One leg has a piece of fur missing exposing the cloth material underneath which is also stained. It can be easily replaced by using it from some other parts where it won't be noticeable if missing (e.g.under the ears). The rest of the coat is in good condition but has come loose in places and will need to be glued back on.

The body stuffing is well and tightly packed inside the cloth cover but I am unable to tell what it is made of as all is intact and none of it is visible through the cloth but it might be possibly stuffed with straw or wood shavings. The lovely bright eyes are black in the middle with orange surround. The head is beautifully shaped with a long narrow snout which has a piece of black material in its place. The ears are long and fluffy. The poodle wears a yellow ribbon collar which is faded and stained with age.


The maker is unknown and there's no button or label found. The exact age is also unknown but I was informed it could be more than 100 years old (possibly Victorian era). It is a very unique and rare dog which will make a nice decorative item in someone's home or it could find a special place in a museum.

As the dog is very old, he is in a great need of TLC, some repairs, a good clean and some freshening up to bring him back to his original condition. So this could be a good project for an antique dealer/restorer.

It's a cute little dog and all he needs is some love and a new home.....
