A challenging but well run secure unit in Nottingham is looking to appoint a fully qualified Science teacher to join their team from September for a maternity cover .

The unit provides services for young people who are: looked after by the local authority or who have been remanded to the secure care having been charged with offences.  The unit aims to re-engage these young people back into the community and give them the opportunity to gain recognised educational qualifications which will offer the chance to make a positive change in their lives.

This temporary position is very exciting and varied and will involve teaching groups of no more than 6 or 7 children who  display extremely emotional and challenging behaviour and will be supported by experienced Teaching Assistants.  A good working knowledge of Key Stage 3 & 4 curriculum is essential as is the ability to work with mixed ability sets.   You must demonstrate an element of passion  in your subject area and have the ability to inspire young people to reach their full potential.  You will be confident and skilled in developing , motivating and improving outcomes for troubled children.   Due to the in-depth nature and responsibility this positions covers, applicants must be experienced working within a PRU or similar educational settings.  This role will be extremely rewarding for the right person.
