We have a vacancy for a Residential Child Care Officer who will be required to contribute to the provision of high quality care, working with pupils from 3.30pm onwards in the residential setting.

Ideally you should have experience of working with children or young people, with some experience of special educational needs, and hold NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Caring for Children & Young People (or be willing to undertake training). Knowledge of first aid, and the ability to drive the school vehicles would be useful.

You will provide support to our pupils to enable them to develop their independence and social skills, and to take responsibility for managing their own behaviour.

Specific Responsibilities -

1.Plan, deliver and evaluate appropriate programmes of child care and activities, keeping accurate records of events and progress.
2.Take responsibility for the care, welfare and safety of a group of pupils in a designated house/area
3.Be an active part of the school community
4.Assist and provide cover for colleagues as directed by your manager.
5.Develop links with the local and wider community, other schools, recreational facilities, etc
