Nottingham part time jobs / evening / weekend
Looking for participants to take part in Cocoa Study inconvenience allowance will be paid.
I am looking for female volunteers to take part in a study at The University of Nottingham looking at the effects antioxidants in cocoa have on insulin sensitivity in a population at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. For taking part, you will be paid an inconvenience allowance of £200.
Volunteers will have to be prepared to drink 2 cups per day of a cocoa drink for 4 weeks. You need to be female aged between 18 and 50. You also need to be healthy although overweight with a BMI in the range 27-35.
If interested, you will need to come to the Queens Medical School in Queen’s Medical Centre for an initial screening visit. If you then join the study, it will require you to attend 2 more study visits for a series of tests at the start and end of the 4 weeks. As well as being weighed and measured, you will have your blood pressure checked and blood samples will be taken for glucose and insulin levels. This will be followed by a 3 hour ‘glucose clamp’ while resting (can watch DVD’s or read). Body composition will also be measured using a Dexa scan and you will be asked to complete a 3 day food diary on two separate occasions during the study.
If you would like to find out more information about the study please contact me by email: mandy.dunlop@nottingham.ac.uk or telephone: 0115 8230248.
Many thanks!
Mandy
