My client are a well established business who design and manufacture a range of electronic products.

They currently require a Development Manager to join their expanding team.

Roughly speaking they would expect this role to be split 50% / 50% between management and technical.

The Engineering team consists of 5 Design Engineers 2 x HW, 2 x SW & 1 x Architect.

The Development Manager will take responsibility for the design of new products from concept through introduction to manufacture, alongside the support and enhancement of the existing product range.

The role includes line management of the development team, contribution to the development of product strategy, project management, people development, process improvement and technical input to the hardware or software design workload.

Essential skills/abilities:
Experience as a technical team leader, including strong motivation and communication skills, mentoring and staff development skills, within a design environment.

Project management experience within a technology based product development environment

Process improvement skills applicable to a design environment.

Current experience of distributed, embedded system hardware and software implementation
Customer and supplier facing communication and negotiation skills.

Communication and team working skills appropriate to member of the management.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone in a technical team leader position to take the next step up into a management role, or an experienced manager who has remained technical, ie capable of doing design or adding value at a very detailed technical level.
