Dragon Boat Race Teams needed for Notts Charity Race!

Enter the dragon – are you game for the challenge?

Come and join The Nottinghamshire Royal Society for the Blind (NRSB) at its 3rd Charity Dragon Boat Race on the Trent on Sunday 31st August 2008! We are looking for enthusiastic people to recruit Dragon Boat teams of between 13 and 19 people to raise money and take part in an ultimate adrenaline-packed, exhilarating and fun day!

Dragon Boat Racing is an ancient Chinese tradition with over 2000 years of history. It is Britain’s fasting growing water activity, requiring no previous experience and suiting all ages and abilities. Dragon Boat Racing is a popular team building exercise and superb motivational activity. Crews of up to 18 paddlers race side by side in vibrant dragon boats whilst a drummer sits in the prow and beats time. Each crew is guaranteed a full day tournament with several races and lots of fun.

Dragon Boat Teams can be a group of colleagues from your work place, or consist of a group of friends, a local football or cricket club members, a community team from your village, father and son teams, whatever you like to make the minimum crew for your boat. Anyone over 16 years old who can swim at least 50 metres in light clothing is eligible to enter. You can make the day as fun as you like. How about getting your crew to dress in fancy dress? There will be prizes for the fastest team, top fundraising team, best dressed and runners up. Last years top fundraising team won a complementary table for the whole crew with a 3-course meal, live band, DJ and disco at Nottingham’s Bistro Live.


NRSB’s events provide much needed funds for the NRSB to carry out its essential services. The NRSB’s work strives to enhance the quality of life and independence of vision impaired people in Nottinghamshire. There are over 6,000 vision impaired people in the county, many of whom will need some level of support to achieve independence at some stage in their lives.
