I am in despereate need of any 'craft' items that you may have lingering at the back of your cupboards so that they may be used by the children at my local school.
The school has recently begun an 'Options' afternoon for our children. This is where we hope to provide our children with a choice of activities one afternoon each week. The activities range from various sporting activities, foreign languages, drama, D.J.skills, a newspaper group, just to mention a few!
We also have sewing, jewellery making, cooking, model making, nail art and arts & crafts.
Obviously these activities are offering our children an experience which is above and beyond the everyday curriculum and will stretch beyond our budget if we are to continue with them. Although in its infancy, so far 'Options' has had a beneficial effect on our pupils behaviour, as bad behaviour means that a pupil misses out on their option for one week. Something that the children themselves don't want to happen.
I am asking you to please help us to keep our 'options'going by donating any thing that could be used in any of our hands on & craft sessions.
Sewing items eg threads, material eg binca or aida (any colour), plastic canvas, frames etc.
Jewellery making items eg beads (any size), spools of elastic or cord, necklace and earring findings, Even broken necklaces that we can take beads off to restring etc.
Cookery items eg rolling pins, pastry cutters of different shapes etc.
General craft items that we can make good use out of. (You know the sort of thing!) Balls of wool, lolly sticks, rafia, metallic card, felt material etc,etc,etc.
All these and many more can all be put to good use. We are a resourceful bunch and nothing will go to waste!
