Job Description

A Registered Nurse shall act, at all times, in such a manner as to justify public trust and confidence, to uphold and enhance the good standing and reputation of the profession, to serve the interests of society, and above all, to safeguard the interests of individual patients.

Essential skills

• To act as “First on the scene” nurse, attending any area in the centre, assessing physical/mental problems and initiating appropriate
action

• To perform comprehensive assessments both physical and mental on all Detainees as required, and initiate appropriate action, based on good clinical practice and within PDS protocols, policies and procedures

• To comply with shift responsibilities as assigned

• To stand in for the Senior Nurse as required
