Second Chef
Our client is a trendy branded restaurant who are currently looking to recriut a Second Chef to join their new restaurant in Nottingham.
Role Purpose: The Second Chef is responsible for assisting the Head Chef in the day to day running and management of the kitchen.
Opportunity: The opportunity exists to gain a thorough understanding of running and operating a successful Kitchen and to progress towards the Head Chef role.
Key Tasks
*Assisting in the day-to-day management of the Kitchen and supporting all management team
*To ensure that you support the Head Chef is operating the kitchen in a smooth and professional manner by directing staff as required to ensure all operational tasks are completed safely and efficiently as/when required (including daily administration) to GBK Standards *To support and communicate regularly and effectively with the Head Chef and Restaurant Manager
*To be responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the Kitchen and staff in the absence of the Head Chef
Food Quality and Presentation
*To ensure that all food presented to customers is prepared with the freshest ingredients and the finest flavour
*To ensure Chefs are following correct food and hygiene Company Standards in regards to all Kitchen aspects
Presenting, Organising the Kitchen and Assisting in maintaining the Kitchen
*To ensure the Kitchen is presentable, organised and clean at all times
*To support HC in maintaining kitchen and keeping it serviced as required
*To minimise unnecessary breakages of all kitchen equipment by using all equipment correctly
*Assisting in recruiting, managing, developing and training Staff
*To assist the HC in leading and contributing to top performing Restaurants
*To support the Head Chef in ensuring that all Kitchen Staff is managed and performing to their best abilities by providing excellent training and by leading by example for all.
*To support the HC in ensuring that the Kitchen is fully staffed and to plan for periods of absence/leavers
*To assist in succession planning for Kitchen Porters/ Trainee Chefs
Person Specification:
Qualification/Apprenticeship as a Chef
Basic Food & Hygiene Certificate
Grill Experience
Ability to remain calm and to work under pressure
Communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work in a team
Ability to work within an extremely busy and fast paced environment
Ability to motivate and lead Staff and delegate tasks/responsibilities Willing to take a responsibility and move up to a Head Chef role
Ability to create a fun, friendly working environment
